Terry Black’s Barbecue: Packaging + Apparel Design

There are tourist traps. And then there are institutions. And then, on top of all that, there’s Terry Blacks. Born in Lockhart, Texas, Terry Black has grown from a family barbecue empire to a Family Feud victor to the heartbeat of Austin culture. With its flagship located in the geographic epicenter of Austin, there’s no restaurant that does more volume. Not even Matt’s El Rancho.

We were tapped by the Terry Black’s team to design a new suite of package goods, streamlining their barbecue sauce and dry rub offerings to better hammer home a classic, mid-century aesthetic. We also designed a new line of merchandise, the year of which is a chain stick Terry Black’s big crown cap.
